Cops of Souls

Woman Holding Small Globe“For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.”John 3:16 (NIV)

I was having lunch with friends today and during a chain of conversations, the husband shared that he had known first-hand what being poor was all about. When he was a child, he lived in the streets for seven years. Along with living in the streets came a high level of vulnerability, because one who sleeps out in the open is susceptible to all kinds of dangers. When my friend shared his life experience with me, I thought to myself, “We, Christians, at some point in our lives, also lived in poverty and vulnerability to danger, as we lived without the Lord in our hearts.” God is the most prized treasure we can have and our only assurance of a life in heaven when we leave this world.

Today, my friend is a policeman, a man who protects people in his community. In a similar manner, without the uniform or badge, Christians should spend their lives seeking to protect the souls of those who do not know the Lord, by sharing with them about Jesus. Leading someone to Christ is the best protection we could ever provide the neighbors in our communities.

“Father, being a part of Your family is the best present we can have. Please enable us to reach out to others and shine Your light to them, so they too can call themselves Your children.”

 For His Glory,
