In My Weakness

cb devo june 30“And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in needs, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ’s sake. For when I am weak, then I am strong.” 2 Corinthians 12:9-10 (NKJ)

The state or quality of being weak; lack of strength, firmness, vigor – definitely not how we want to be described. Webster goes on to define weakness as an inadequate or defective quality, as in a person’s character. Weakness can also be self-indulgent or an object of special desire; something very difficult to resist. Regardless of how Webster defines it – a weakness is a difficult thing to admit, even harder thing to allow God to use for His Glory. We have to become vulnerable and allow our weakness to be exposed; however, we try to hide our weakness from those around us. God’s strength is made perfect in weakness so why do we allow our insecurities to control us when we can bask in God’s strength? Ever turned it around like that? We can choose God’s strength or our own insecurity. Hmm, doesn’t seem like that hard of a choice now does it? God choose us, He created us and He takes pleasure in us, even when we do stupid things. He chooses to use our weakness to draw us closer to Him and others to Him as well.

“Father thank You for the reminder that You give us strength in our weakness; we can trust You in all things.”

For His Glory
